イギリスの博物学者 Lewis Weston Dillwyn (1778–1855) による貝殻のカタログで、軟体動物の分類学研究として重要な著作とされている。Linneの分類法に従って整理され、解説が付けられている。図版はない。
Dillwynは、Lister の『貝類学研究』に対し、索引を作成している（"An Index to the Historia Conchyliorum of Lister", Oxford. 1923）。
